JROTC Scholarship
Scholarship Award: The MOAA Piedmont Chapter has established an endowment to support the awarding of a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving cadet in the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) program from a local high school or homeschool association in the Tri-County area. The cadet applicant must demonstrate excellence in military, scholastic, and community service, and be seeking to serve in one of the military services through a college ROTC program. The MOAA Piedmont Chapter Scholarship will be a non-renewable award for one cadet each year.

Application Instructions & Guidelines
​Eligibility Requirements:

Active JROTC Cadet recommended by the military leadership of their JROTC unit (only one nomination per unit each year).

Graduating senior of a high school or homeschool association located in Anderson, Oconee or Pickens County.

Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and exemplary personal conduct in the JROTC program, in the high school or homeschool association, in community service, and/or at their place of employment.

Pursuing their first undergraduate degree at an accredited College or University of their choice while applying for entry into that institution’s ROTC program.

Participate in an in-person interview.

Timelines for the MOAA Piedmont Chapter Scholarship Application:

February 1- Applications should be submitted through the JROTC Military Commander ONLINE FORM BELOW on or before February 1. Only one application may be submitted from a JROTC unit each year. The Scholarship Committee, MOAA Piedmont Chapter will evaluate all qualified applicants, select the three best-qualified applicants for an in-person interview, and coordinate with the cadets and their units to schedule interviews prior to March 1.

March 1- Following the in-person interviews, the Scholarship Committee will notify the MOAA Piedmont Chapter leadership team of the most deserving cadet applicant. President, MOAA Piedmont Chapter will notify by letter the JROTC military commander of the cadet selected for the scholarship award and arrange for a formal notification to the cadet. Letters will also be sent to the commanders of those cadets who were not selected.

Prior to the Fall Semester - The $1,000.00 scholarship for tuition and fees will be sent to the designated academic institution in the student's name upon receipt of a certification of enrollment at the accredited College or University and registration into that institution’s ROTC program.
Questions may be referred to the military commander of the JROTC at your high school.
